The fan OGV assembly has 80 individual vanes. The vane inner platforms are axially retained by the inner face of the fan (OGV) aft support fairing. The vane outer platforms are bolted to the fan case.

ENGINES WITH CFMI SB 72-743; Composite OGVs have been introduced with a metallic leading edge.
(4)
ENGINES WITH CFMI SB 72-796; Lightened aluminum OGVs have been introduced. Use of composite OGVs and aluminum OGVs together is not limited.

FAN FRAME - INSPECTION/CHECK

1. General

A. The first procedure gives the equipment and steps that are necessary for the borescope inspection.
B. This procedure contains eight tasks for visual inspection procedures and maximum service limits and extensions for these engine areas:
(1)
Inspection of the Fan Frame
(2)
Inspection of the Fan Inlet Case
(3)
Inspection of the Abradable Shroud
(4)
Inspection of the Acoustic Panels
(5)
Inspection of the Splitter Fairing
(6)
Inspection of the Outlet Guide Vanes (OGV)
(7)
Inspection of the OGV Inner Shroud
(8)
Inspection of the Fan Duct Panels
C. The last inspection gives the steps to put the airplane back to its usual condition after the inspections.
D. The fan cowl panels must be open to get access to the fan frame.
(1)
You must see the thrust reversers to see all fan components which are through the aft fan duct.
(2)
Look at the other components through the inlet for access.
E. Unless stated differently, you must replace the engine if the limits are exceeded (AMM 71-00-02/401).
