 (4)  Remove the bolts that attach the flame arrestor to the flange assy and the oil inlet cover (Fig. 702). (a) Remove the flame arrestor.

 (5)  Do these steps to remove the flange assembly: (a) Remove the bolts that attach the flange assy to the turbine frame.
 (b)  Use six equally spaced jackscrews to remove the flange assembly.

 (6)  ENGINES WITH CFMI SB 72-437; Disconnect the oil supply tube for the damped No. 5 bearing from the oil supply tube for the No. 4 and No. 5 bearing and from the nipple. on the turbine rear frame.
 (a)  Clean and do an inspection of the tube.

 (7)  Disconnect the oil supply tube for the No. 4 and No. 5 bearing from the nipple on the oil inlet cover and from the union nut on the oil supply tube.

 (8)  Remove the nipple from the oil inlet cover. (a) Discard the O-ring. (b) Clean and do an inspection of the nipple.

 (9)  Do these steps to remove the oil inlet cover: (a) Remove the bolts that attach the oil inlet cover. (b) Remove the oil inlet cover. (c) Discard the O-ring. (d) Clean and do an inspection of the restrictor.

 Remove the bolt, nut and clamp that attach the oil supply tube to the support on the inner hub of the LPT frame (Fig. 703).

 Pull the oil supply tube down through the No. 6 strut until you disengage the guide bushing from the boss on the LPT frame.

 Attach the steel tubing and an approved pump to the oil supply tube.

 Do this task:  Clean Internal Oil Tubes (Ref CFMI Standard Practices Manual 70-21-17/101).

 Do these steps to install the oil inlet cover (Fig. 702):


 (a)  Lightly lubricate the O-ring with oil, CFMI SB 79-001.
 (b)  Install the O-ring in the front groove of the oil inlet cover.
 (c)  Lubricate the threads of the bolts with grease, GP460,
 Aeroshell 8.
 (d)  Install the oil inlet cover on the turbine frame.
 NOTE:____ It may be necessary to use the puller adapter
 856A3419 if the oil inlet cover is difficult to install.
 Make sure the cover flange is aligned with the oil
 supply tube which comes out at the bottom of the No. 5
 bearing support.
 (e)  Attach the oil inlet cover with the 24 bolts.
 NOTE:____ Make sure all of the 24 bolts are correctly
 installed on the rear cover before the final assembly.
 1)  Tighten the bolts to 110-120 pound-inches
 (12.5-13.5 Newton meters).

 (15) Do these steps to install the nipple on the oil inlet cover:
 (a)  
Lubricate the O-ring with oil, CFMI SB 79-001.

 (b)  
Install the O-ring on the nipple.

 (c)  
Install the nipple on the oil inlet cover.


 1)  Tighten the nipple to 175-195 pound-inches (20-22 Newton meters).

 (16) Do these steps to install the oil supply tube for the No. 4 and No. 5 bearing to the oil inlet cover nipple (Fig. 702):
 (a)  Lightly lubricate the threads of the nipple on the oil inlet cover with oil, CFMI SB 79-001.
