D. Prepare for the Combustion Case Casing Inspection

(1) Open the left and right fan cowl panels (AMM 71-11-02/201).

WARNING: OBEY THE INSTRUCTIONS IN AMM 78-31-00/201 WHEN YOU OPEN THE
_______ THRUST REVERSERS. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THE INSTRUCTIONS, INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
(2) Open the left and right thrust reverser (AMM 78-31-00/201).
E. Make an Inspection of the Combustion Case Casing (Fig. 601)
S 216-005-C00
(1) Examine the combustion case casing for damage:
(a)
Cracks are not serviceable.
(b)
Nicks, marks and scratches on the combustion case casing:
1) No maximum limit not more than 0.03 inch (0.76 mm) in depth after you remove all of the burrs.
(c)
Dents in the combustion case casing:
1) No maximum number not more than 0.10 inch (2.54 mm) in depth after you remove all of the burrs.
(d)
It is not permitted to have bends, bulges or distortion that are caused by too high of a temperature
CAUTION: AN INDICATION OF A DAMAGED COMBUSTION LINING IS HOT SPOTS
_______ ON THE OUTER CASING. YOU MUST EXAMINE THE COMBUSTION LINING WITH A BORESCOPE (AMM 72-00-00/601).
(e) Hot spots (discoloration) on the combustion case casing: 1) No maximum number given the metal is not crazed or cracked.

Close the left and right thrust reverser (AMM 78-31-00/201).
(3)
Close the left and right fan cowl panels (AMM 71-11-02/201).

(1) You must open the fan cowl panel and thrust reverser to get access to the combustion case.

E. Make an Inspection of the General Combustion Case (Fig. 601)

(1) Examine the forward and aft flanges on the combustion case for damage:
(a) Cracks in the bolt holes that point out radially: 1) One crack for each bolt hole, two for each frame.
