(b) Dovetail Slot Pressure Faces.
NOTE: CFMI tool 856A6629 is for use on only engines with a
____ non-rebroached fan disk (production). It is not necessary to use a tool on an engine with a rebroached fan disk to do an inspection of the pressure faces.
NOTE: Rebroached fan disks are identified by a white line
____ of paint that circles the fan disk, along with the words SHIMS REQUIRED in white letters on one side of the disk. On the opposite side of the disk are the words DISK REPAIRED, also in white letters. (Reference CFMI Service Bulletins 72-621 and 72-820 for more information.)
1) ENGINES WITH A NON-REBROACHED FAN DISK; (ENGINES PRE-CFMI-SB 72-621 AND PRE-CFMI-SB 72-820); Do an inspection of each pressure face. Damage is permitted if it is in the limits that follow: a) A worn, fretted surface that is less than 50% of Area A
is permitted.
b) If you find a worn, fretted surface that is equal to or more than 50% of Area A, then you must do a wear depth measurement on all dovetail slots.
1.
Wear depth measurement less than 0.005 inch (0.13
_ mm) in depth, the fan disk is serviceable.
2.
Wear depth measurement equal to or more than 0.005
_ (0.13 mm) in depth, the fan disk is not serviceable.
3. To regain serviceability of the fan disk, refer to
_
CFMI SB 72-854.
2) ENGINES WITH A REBROACHED FAN DISK; (ENGINES POST-CFMI-SB 72-621 AND POST-CFMI-SB 72-820); Do a visual inspection of each pressure faces, and obey the limits that follow: a) A worn, fretted surface that is less than 50% of Area A
is permitted.
b) If you find a worn, fretted surface that is equal to or more than 50% of Area A, then the fan disk is not serviceable.
3) There is no limit to the quantity of nicks, dents and scratches in Area A, if the damage is in the limits that follow: a) Damage less than 0.003 inch (0.075 mm) in depth is
permitted. b) A 100 cycle service extension is permitted if the damage is less than 0.008 inch (0.20 mm) in depth.
