C. EIU Position Pins
(1)
Each of the three rack mounted EIU connectors have three pins designated as EIU position pins. These pins are either wired to ground (gnd) or not connected (nc).
(2)
At power up, each EIU will read the coded position pins to determine it's installed position.
(3)
The position pin configuration for the source selected EIU is displayed on the IDS test format as an octal readout, including parity. All six DUs will display one of the following EIU position configurations.

(4) For incorrect parity, or if the decoded position pins do not reflect the source selected EIU position as displayed in the EIU software part number caption, a magenta colored error message is displayed.
D. IDU Software Part Number Display
(1) Indicates the vendor software part number resident in the display units presenting the IDS test format.
E. EIU Software Part Number Display
(1) Indicates the vendor software part number resident in the source selected EIU.
F. IDS Program Pins
(1) The program pin configuration for the source selected EIU is displayed by a fourteen character hexadecimal readout, including parity. If any program pins are invalid, a magenta colored ERROR message is displayed.
(a)
The fourteen hexadecimal numbers represent the status of fifty six program pins. Each one of the hexadecimal characters represents 4 program pins. The status of the program pins can be determined by converting the fourteen hexadecimal numbers to their 4-bit binary representation. A binary 1 represents an enabled program pin. A binary 0 represents a disabled program pin. The four small decimal characters (1, 32, 33, and 56) that encompass the fourteen large hexadecimal characters, help you determine the program pin number.
