Memo messages contain a maximum of 16 characters and are white in color. Memo messages cannot be paged or cancelled.

 E. Status Messages (Level S)
 (1)
Status messages are messages which may effect dispatch. Some of these messages are specifically covered in the Master Minimum Equipment List (MMEL). Status messages therefore indicate a condition for which crew awareness is required at dispatch. The messages are displayed on the auxiliary EICAS display, when the STAT switch on the EICAS DSP is pressed. When a level S (status) condition occurs, its associated message is placed in both an asserted list and a nonpaged list, in chronological order. The messages are displayed from the nonpaged list, with the latest occurrence on the top line of the display (Fig. 2). When the conditions clear, the associated nonlatch type messages are removed from the asserted and nonpaged lists. Latch type messages are removed from the lists by selecting CMC Present Leg Faults on the Control Display Unit (CDU), and pressing the specified line select keys. Any remaining messages move up to occupy the vacated lines.

Paging

 (a)
Status messages are initially selected for display by pressing the STAT switch on the EICAS DSP. When the key is initially pressed, the nonpaged list copies status messages from the asserted list. These messages, now in the nonpaged list, will be displayed on the EICAS.

 (b)
With the status messages displayed, pressing the STAT switch again will clear the status messages from the display. These messages are also purged from the nonpaged list. Messages which were not purged from the nonpaged list will now be displayed.

 (c)
If a page number is displayed, its number is incremented by one with each depression of the STAT switch. When no more status messages exist in the nonpaged list, the status format is de-selected.

 (4)
Status Cue

 (a)
If the status format is not being displayed on the auxiliary display, the cue STATUS will appear on the main display whenever a new status message condition occurs. The cue is situated below the warning, caution, advisory and memo message field.

 (b)
When the cue is displayed on the main display, it is cleared from the display when the STAT switch is pressed to select the status page on the auxiliary display. The cue is also cleared if the status message condition, which initiated the cue, self clears.

 10. EICAS Engine Parameter Displays
_______________________________
 A. General
 (1)
The EICAS integrates the display of all engine parameters onto two Display Units (DUs), the main DU and the auxiliary DU. These engine parameters are prioritized for display as either primary or secondary.

 (2)
The primary parameters are required for continuous display and are presented on the main DU. The remaining secondary parameters are monitored by EICAS and are conditionally displayed on the auxiliary DU.

 (a)
The secondary parameters are automatically presented for display if a secondary engine parameter exceedance is detected.

 (b)
The secondary parameters may be manually selected for display by pressing the ENG switch on the EICAS Display Select Panel (DSP).

 (3)
The engine parameter redline and amber band limit values used for the EICAS displays are stored in the memory of the EIUs.

 B. EICAS Primary Display (Fig. 33)
 (1)  General
 (a)  The EICAS primary format displays primary thrust (EPR), N1 and EGT on a full time basis. Since these parameters are required for continuous display, the EICAS primary format is presented on the main Display Unit (DU).
