 (2)  
If the NAV source select switch is set on the CDU position (Fig. 24), the CDU will be the source of EFIS dynamic and map data.

 (3)  
The EFIS control panels (EFIS CPs) are used to control the display formats for the PFD and ND. The EFIS CP digital output buses are routed through the left and right CDUs, respectively. If an EFIS CP fails, the CDU can function as an EFIS CP, using the appropriate line select keys and function legends on the CDU screen.


 F. Flight Management Computer (FMC) Interface (Fig. 23)
 (1)  
The FMCs transmit various data to the EIUs on ARINC 429 low speed data buses, and to the DUs on ARINC 429 high speed data buses. The FMC data is displayed on both the PFD and the ND.

 (2)  
The ND receives map background data from the FMC. The map background is defined as fixed points relative to the ground. The latitude and longitude coordinates make up the majority of the map background data received from the FMC. The FMC supplies dynamic data which moves relative to the map background data. The dynamic data from the FMC includes information such as: flight plan, waypoints, navaids, airports, holding patterns, procedure turns, curved trend vectors, range, altitude line and vertical deviation pointer.

 (3)  
The PFD receives data such as: track, ground speed, flight path angle and drift angle. This digital data is received by the EIU on an FMC high speed bus.

 (4)  
Separate EFIS control panels (EFIS CPs) for the CAPT and F/O allow each pilot to independently display the FMC data on the onside ND. The EFIS CP transmits range selection and mode selection data to the FMC. The mode select and range select data is also transmitted from the EFIS CP to the EIU through the FMC.

 (5)  
The EIUs receive low speed data from the ARINC 429 digital data buses. Normally, the EIUs receive data from the FMC selected on the EICAS control panel/FMC switch. If the selected FMC fails, the EIUs will automatically switch to the other FMC as a source.


 G. VOR/ILS Interface (Fig. 25)
 (1)  The VOR and ILS systems transmit digital and analog data to the EIU. The EIUs receive data such as frequency, omnibearing, selected course and station identifier from the VOR system. The EIUs receive data such as glideslope deviation, localizer deviation, frequency, selected runway heading and station identifier from the ILS.
