EICAS CONTROL PANEL/FMC SWITCH - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General_______
A. This subject has two tasks. The first task is to remove the EICAS control panel/FMC switch. The second task is to install the control panel. The installation task includes a test of the installation of the panel.
B. The EICAS control panel/FMC switch is at the top of the pilots center instrument panel, P2. Four quick-release fasteners hold the unit on the instrument panel.

B. Procedure

(1) Open this circuit breaker and attach a DO-NOT-CLOSE tag:
(a) P7, Overhead Circuit Breaker Panel
1) 7C5, FMCS MASTER SW

(2) Remove the EICAS control panel/FMC switch:
(a)
Release the fasteners on the front of the unit.
(b)
Pull the unit carefully until you can get access to the electrical connectors on the rear of the unit.
(c)
Disconnect the electrical connectors from the unit.
(d)
Install dust caps on the electrical connectors.

C. Procedure

(1) Make sure this circuit breaker is open with a DO-NOT-CLOSE tag attached:
(a) P7, Overhead Circuit Breaker Panel
1) 7C5, FMCS MASTER SW

(2) Install the EICAS control panel/FMC switch:
(a)
Remove the dust caps from the electrical connectors.
(b)
Examine the unit's electrical connectors for loose, bent, or broken pins.
(c)
Connect the electrical connectors to the unit.
(d)
Put the unit carefully into the instrument panel.
(e)
Lock the fasteners on the front of the unit.

Do a test of the EICAS control panel/FMC switch:
(a)
Set the EIU SEL switch to the AUTO position.
(b)
Adjust the BRT UPR control knob clockwise and counterclockwise. 1) Make sure the upper IDU becomes brighter when you adjust the knob clockwise.
2) Make sure the upper IDU becomes dimmer when you adjust the knob counterclockwise.
