The range select switch on the EFIS CP allows the selection of 5, 10, 20, 40, 80, 160, 320 and 640 nautical mile ranges for the weather radar display. The ND receives the range data from the EFIS CP, FMC/CDU or weather radar. If the range data from the EFIS CP becomes invalid, the ND will default to weather radar range data. If the weather radar range data becomes invalid or is unavailable, the ND will default to FMC/CDU map range data.

Separate EFIS CPs for the CAPT and F/O allow the pilot to independently display the weather radar data on the pilot's ND. To enable the display of weather radar data on the ND, a pilot must turn on the weather radar ON/OFF switch on both the EFIS CP and the weather radar control panel.

The weather radar scans 180 degrees every four seconds. The ND will reject invalid weather radar input data, but will continue to display the previous weather radar data.
