 (2)  
The VOR/LOC antenna switch and glideslope antenna switch transmit analog discrete data to the EIUs to indicate any failure in the antenna switching.

 (3)  
Normally, the CAPT's ND and PFD display VOR/ILS data received from the left VOR/ILS receiver. Similarly, the F/O's ND and PFD normally display the VOR/ILS data received from the right VOR/ILS receiver. If a VOR/ILS receiver fails, the EIUs will select the VOR/ILS data from the other receiver.


 H. DME/ATC Interface (Fig. 26)
 (1)  
The DMEs transmit data to the EIUs on an ARINC 429 low speed data bus. The Distance Measuring Equipment (DME) provides distance information to the EFIS display. When the airplane is in VOR mode, the source of DME is from the same side as the source of VOR. When the airplane is in approach mode, the source of DME is from the same side as the source of ILS.

 (2)  
The Air Traffic Controller (ATC) system transmits the ATC transponder fault signals to the EIUs. These fault signals translate to the EICAS messages displayed on the main EICAS.


 I. Stall Warning Computer (SWC) Interface (Fig. 27)
 (1)  
The stall warning computers provide pitch limit, minimum operating speed and maximum operating speed to the EIUs. These computers transmit data on an ARINC 429 low speed data bus.

 (2)  
The CAPT's PFD receives data from the left SWC, and the F/O's PFD receives data from the right SWC.

 (3)  
The stall warning computers reside in the MAWEA assembly.


 J. Automatic Direction Finder (ADF) Interface (Fig. 28)
 (1)  
The ADF receiver transmits ADF bearing, ADF identification code and maintenance data to the EIUs on an ARINC 429 low speed digital data bus.

 (2)  
Information such as ADF frequency, ADF identifier and ADF pointer direction is presented on the ND. The movement of the ADF directional pointers is controlled by the ADF bearing data and FMC/IRS track data or IRS heading data.


 K. Weather Radar Interface (Fig. 29)
 (1)  The weather radar transceivers transmit data to the ND on ARINC 453 very high speed data buses (1 MHz bit rate). The weather radar data can be enabled for display on the ND through the EFIS CP. The ND modes which are capable of presenting weather radar information are the expanded map, full map, expanded VOR and expanded approach modes.
