 (3)
Positive IRU roll data causes the pointer to rotate
 counterclockwise.

 (4)
The roll pointer is removed for invalid pitch or roll attitude.

 (5)
The roll pointer is removed and the ATT flag (Fig. 10C) is displayed for failed IRU pitch or roll attitude, or when pitch attitude exceeds |90°.

 O. Vertical Speed Indicator
 (1)
IRU vertical speed is displayed by a pointer which moves against a fixed scale.

 (2)
The display range of the scale is |6,000 feet per minute.

 (3)
The top half of the scale indicates positive vertical speed, the bottom half indicates negative.

 (4)
If the magnitude of vertical speed exceeds 400 feet per minute, a digital readout is displayed near the top/bottom end of the scale.

 (5)
Selected vertical speed from the FCC is indicated by a bug (two horizontal lines) positioned at the left edge of the scale.

 (6)
The selected vertical speed bug is removed for NCD or failed FCC selected vertical speed.

 (7)
The entire vertical speed scale is removed for NCD IRU inertial vertical speed.

 (8)
The entire vertical speed scale is removed and the VERT flag (Fig. 10C) is displayed for failed IRU inertial vertical speed.

MAINTENANCE MANUAL

 (9)
Colored vertical band(s) appear on the VSI during a TCAS resolution advisory. The advisory shows either up or down vertical movement.

 (10)
The preventivative advisory is a red band that indicates the range of vertical speeds to avoid. When you have a preventative up advisory, the red band extends up from the lower extreme of the VSI to the top of the range to avoid. When you have a preventative down advisory, the red band extends down from the upper extreme of the VSI to the bottom of the range to avoid.

 (11)
The vertical speed pointer will change from white to red when it moves into the preventative advisory band.

 P. Flight Director
 (1)
The pitch command bar (horizontal) and roll command bar (vertical) move independently of each other.

 (2)
These bars move in response to the flight director pitch and roll commands received from the FCC.

 (3)
The pitch command bar is removed for invalid FCC pitch command data.

 (4)
The roll command bar is removed for invalid FCC roll command data.

 (5)
The entire symbol is removed and the FD flag (Fig. 10C) is displayed for failed FCC pitch or roll data.

 Q. Airplane Reference Symbol
 (1)
The center of the boresight box represents the airplane longitudinal axis.

 (2)
This box is the center of translation and rotation of all PFD symbols.

 R. Horizon Line
 (1)
The orientation of earth and sky relative to the airplane longitudinal axis is indicated by sky/ground shading. This shading is separated by the horizon line.

 (2)
The horizon line indicates airplane pitch and roll in conjunction with the pitch and roll indices.

 (3)
The translation and rotation of the horizon line is based on airplane pitch and roll data from the IRU.

 (4)
The horizon line and sky/ground shading are removed for NCD or failed IRU pitch or roll attitude, or when IRU pitch exceeds |90°.

 S. Flight Path Vector (FPV)
 (1)
The FPV is selected using the FPV switch on the EFIS CP.

 (2)
The FPV symbol translates perpendicular to the horizon line to indicate flight path angle and parallel to the horizon line to indicate drift angle.

 (3)
The displayed flight path angle is computed from IRU flight path angle, IRU pitch attitude and radio altitude.

 (4)
If the FPV is selected, the symbol will be removed whenever IRU roll attitude, IRU pitch attitude, IRU heading, FMC/IRU track or IRU pitch attitude rate are NCD.

 (5)
During landing, the flight path vector symbol is replaced by the rising runway.

 (6)
If the FPV is selected, the symbol will be removed and the FPV flag (Fig. 10C) will be displayed whenever flight path angle, pitch attitude, roll attitude, heading, track or pitch attitude rate are failed or pitch attitude exceeds |90°.
