747-400 MAINTENANCE MANUAL
 (b)
The pointer moves up or down in response to ILS glide slope deviation data.

 (c)
For NCD ILS glide slope deviation data, the pointer is removed.

 (d)
If the ILS frequency is NCD or the magnitude of IRU roll is greater than or equal to 53°, both the scale and pointer are removed.

 (e)
For failed ILS glide slope deviation, the scale and pointer are removed and the G/S flag (Fig. 10C) is displayed.

 (2)  Deviation Warning
 (a)
The scale changes from white to yellow in color.

 (b)
The deviation pointer flashes at a rate of four times a second.

 X. Localizer Deviation
 (1)
General

 (a)
Deviation is indicated by a diamond shaped pointer which translates horizontally along a scale.

 (b)
The pointer moves left or right in response to ILS deviation data.

 (c)
If ILS localizer deviation is NCD, or the selected runway heading or FMC/IRU track is invalid, the pointer is removed.

 (d)
For failed ILS localizer deviation, the pointer and scale are removed and the LOC flag (Fig. 10C) is displayed.

 (2)
Deviation Warning

 (a)
The scale changes from white to yellow in color.

 (b)
The pointer flashes at a rate of four times a second.

 Y. Rising Runway
 (1)
The rising runway radio altimiter symbol is integrated into the display of localizer deviation. The symbol translates laterally in response to ILS localizer deviation data.

 (2)
The rising runway symbol with imbedded digital readout of radio altitude is displayed for radio altitude less than 1,000 ft.

 (3)
For radio altitude less than -20 ft, the readout will limit and display -20 ft.

 (4)
The rising runway has a full scale range of 200 ft. The length of the runway stem increases linearly as radio altitude decreases below 200 ft.

MAINTENANCE MANUAL

 (5)
Zero altitude is indicated when the runway symbol reaches the base of the airplane reference symbol.

 (6)
During takeoff, the rising runway symbol is replaced by the flight path vector.

 (7)
The rising runway symbol is removed for NCD radio altitude or invalid ILS localizer deviation.

 (8)
For failed radio altitude, the symbol is removed and the RA flag (Fig. 10C) is displayed.

 Z. Drift Angle Pointer
 (1)
The symbol moves along the heading/track tape to indicate the current track.

 (2)
For invalid track (after FMC/IRU source selection) or invalid IRU

heading, the pointer is removed. AA. Selected Heading Readout
 (1)
The digital readout indicates the FCC selected heading.

 (2)
For NCD or failed FCC selected heading, or invalid IRU heading, the

readout is removed. AB. Windshear/Pull Up Annunciation
 (1) One of the following warning/caution messages may be displayed.
The messages are displayed based on the priority shown. WINDSHEAR (warning - red in color) PULL UP (warning - red in color) WINDSHEAR (caution - yellow in color)
 (2) If GPWC data is invalid, the message is not displayed. AC. Present Heading Pointer
 (1)
The symbol serves as an index to indicate the present heading.

 (2)
For failed IRU heading, the pointer is removed and the HDG flag

(Fig. 10C) is displayed. AD. MAG/TRUE Data Annunciation
 (1)
A green colored MAG or TRU is displayed to indicate a magnetic or true north reference.

 (2)
A green colored box (transition annunciation) surrounds the MAG annunciation for ten seconds to indicate a transition from true to magnetic north reference.

 (3)
A white colored box surrounds the TRU annunciation.

 (4)
A yellow colored box surrounds the TRU annunciation (initially flashing for ten seconds) if the vertical descent rate exceeds 800 feet per minute for 2000 ft (landing phase).
