(b)
Specifically covered will be the display format control during normal and non-normal conditions, crew alerting message control, and display format selection for engine indication, airplane status and sub-system synoptics.

MAINTENANCE MANUAL
(2) EICAS Display Select Panel
(a) General
1) The EICAS Display Select Panel (DSP), located on the glareshield, provides for manual selection of the EICAS secondary engine parameter display and EICAS synoptic displays.
2) The EICAS DSP also provides the controls used for the cancelling and recalling of EICAS crew alerting messages.
(b) Crew Alerting Message List Control
1) The CANC (cancel) and RCL (recall) switches allow the crew to control the presentation of EICAS caution and advisory messages.
2) Depression of the CANC switch will remove all presently displayed caution and advisory messages. If the PAGE 1 message was displayed, its page number would increment by one for each depression of the switch until the caution and advisory messages are cleared, at which time, the page number will clear.
3) Depressing the RCL switch will return any caution and/or advisory messages whose condition is still active. While this switch is depressed, a white colored RECALL message is displayed below the crew alerting message field. Upon release of this switch, the message will be retained for an additional second before clearing. The RCL switch updates the page annunciator.
(3) Event Recording
(a)
Maintenance data recording can occur manually in response to either flight crew or maintenance crew inputs, or automatically in response to anomalous conditions detected by EICAS.
(b)
The current value of each parameter on all maintenance pages (flight controls, fuel, ECS, electrical, hydraulic, performance, APU, EPCS, and gear) is recorded in non-volatile memory (NVM) when the EVENT RCD switch is depressed.
(c)
Selective manual recording may also be accomplished through the CDU for any maintenance page system/sub-system format.
(d)
Automatic recording of maintenance data in NVM occurs when EICAS detects anomalous conditions related to the particular system/sub-system. The conditions which cause the system/sub-system data to be stored are a subset of the parameter exceedances which cause flight deck effects such as engine parameter exceedances, crew alerting messages and status messages.
(e)
The IDS is designed to store a maximum of five manual recordings and five automatic recordings, per flight leg, for each system/sub-system format. Subsequent requests will be ignored until the snapshot NVM is erased or a flight leg transition occurs. Requests after NVM erasure or flight leg transitions will overwrite the least recent recording until the maximum is reached. The event recordings for the performance and EPCS are linked together such that a recording of performance data will simultaneously record EPCS data.
