EFIS CONTROL PANEL - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General
_______
A. This subject has two tasks. The first task is to remove the EFIS control panel. The second task is to install the EFIS control panel. The installation task includes a test of the installation of the control panel.
B. There are two EFIS control panels installed on the autoflight control panel, P10. The captain's control panel is on the left side of the P10 panel. The F/O's control panel is on the right side of the P10 panel. Each EFIS control panel is held in the P10 panel by four screws.

2. EFIS Control Panel Removal

B. Procedure

(1) Open the applicable circuit breaker and attach a DO-NOT-CLOSE tag:
NOTE: The TCAS system will possibly operate when you open the
____ circuit breakers for the EFIS control panel.
(a) P7, Overhead Circuit Breaker Panel
1) 7F11, EFIS CONT L
2) 7F16, EFIS CONT R

(2) Remove the EFIS control panel:
(a) Remove the screws from the bottom of the P10 panel.
NOTE: Keep these screws for the control panel installation.

(b)
Pull the control panel carefully until you get access to the electrical connector(s) on the rear of the control panel.
(c)
Disconnect the electrical connector(s) from the control panel.
(d)
Install dust caps on the electrical connector(s).

(1) Location Zone

C. Procedure

(1) Make sure the applicable circuit breaker is open with a DO-NOT-CLOSE tag attached:
(a) P7, Overhead Circuit Breaker Panel
1) 7F11, EFIS CONT L
2) 7F16, EFIS CONT R

(2) Install the EFIS control panel:
(a)
Remove the dust caps from the electrical connector(s).
(b)
Examine the unit's electrical connector(s) for loose, bent, or broken pins.
(c)
Connect the electrical connector(s) to the control panel.
(d)
Put the control panel carefully into the P10 panel.
(e)
Install the four screws into the control panel through the bottom of the P10 panel.

(3) Remove the DO-NOT-CLOSE tags and close these circuit breakers:
(a) P7, Overhead Circuit Breaker Panel
1) 7F11, EFIS CONT L
2) 7F16, EFIS CONT R

Supply the electrical power (AMM 24-22-00/201).

Do these steps to turn off the manual EFIS control on the captain's (first officer's) MCDU.
(a)
Push the MENU mode select key on the captain's (first officer's) MCDU.
(b)
Push the LSK next to the CTL PNL prompt until the OFF prompt shows.

(6) Do a test of the EFIS control panel:
(a)
Set the mode selector switch on the EIFS control panel to the PLN position.
(b)
Make sure the captain's (first officer's) ND shows the PLAN format.
(c)
Set the control panel mode selector switch to the MAP position.
(d)
Make sure the captain's (first officer's) ND shows the MAP format.
