Range Ring Display (full rose only): A 3 NM range ring is shown when the selected display range is less than 160 NM. The range ring is aligned with the airplane heading.

 TCAS Messages:
 (a)  There are nine TCAS messages: TRAFFIC (red), TRAFFIC (yellow), OFFSCALE (red), OFFSCALE (yellow), TFC (cyan), TCAS FAIL (yellow), TA ONLY (cyan), TCAS OFF (cyan), and TCAS TEST (cyan).
 C. Approach Mode (Fig. 13 and 14)
 (1)
The approach mode presents selected course and ILS course deviation. An expanded or full compass rose format may be selected.
 (a)
The approach mode displays airplane direction with a heading-up reference on both the expanded and or full compass rose formats. Present heading is displayed digitally in the readout box at the top, center of the display. The label "HDG" indicates that the display is heading-up.
 (b)
The readout box value changes and the compass rose moves continually to indicate the airplane's current heading.
 (c)
The heading display is normally referenced to magnetic north. Annunciation and control of the reference (magnetic or true) is controlled by the TRUE/NORM switch located on the EICAS control panel/FMC switch.
 (d)
Current track is indicated by a track line on both the expanded format and the full rose format.
 (2)
Selected runway course is displayed by a pointer rotated around the fixed airplane reference symbol. The selected runway course is also displayed digitally in the upper, right corner.
 (3)
Course deviation indication is provided by a deviation bar displaced on a dot scale. The dot scale is orthogonal to the selected course pointer and rotates about the airplane reference symbol.
 (a)
The course deviation bar is driven by the ILS localizer deviation signal. The polarity of the deflection results in a "fly to" indication to achieve the center of the localizer beam.
 (b)
Glide slope deviation is presented by a vertical scale located on the right side of the approach format.
 (4)
The upper, right corner contains the decoded identifier for the tuned ILS if a valid ground transmitted identifier is received.
 (a)  If a valid identifier is not received, then the identifier will be replaced by the tuned frequency.
