EFIS BRIGHTNESS CONTROL - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General_______
A. This subject has two tasks. The first task is to remove the EFIS brightness control. The second task is to install the EFIS brightness control. The installation task includes a test of the installation of the brightness control.
B. There are two pair of EFIS brightness control knobs (Fig. 401). One pair is on the left (captain's) side of the P72 panel. The other pair is on the right (first officer's) side of the P72 panel. Each pair of knobs control the applicable primary flight display (PFD) and navigational display (ND) brightness. The PFD brightness control is a single knob. The ND brightness control has an outer and inner knob.
C. The wires of the brightness control connect to the wire harness on the glare shield. You must remove the glare shield to get the access to the wire harness. The control is held into the P72 lightshield panel by a nut below the panel lightplate.

(2) Remove the EFIS brightness control:

Remove all the knobs from the lightsheild panel (P72).
(b)
Remove the mounting screws from the lightplate.
(c)
Remove the lightplate.
(d)
Remove the nut and washer from the EFIS brightness control you will replace.
(e)
Remove the EFIS brightness control from the panel to gain access to the wires.
