MAINTENANCE MANUAL
(b) EFIS Control Panel 1) General a) Two EFIS CPs are installed in the glareshield. The two control panels provide separate control of the CAPT's and F/O's EFIS displays. b) Although each EFIS CP is connected to all three EIUs, functional isolation implemented in the software prevents a single EFIS CP from controlling both the CAPT'S and F/O'S EFIS displays. c) EFIS CP failures are accommodated by invoking the back-up EFIS CP function of the CDU. 2) The ND mode is controlled by a four position rotary switch. a) The switch allows the pilot to select either the APP (approach), VOR, MAP or PLN (plan) modes for display on the ND. b) A pushbutton switch in the center of the knob causes all ND modes except plan to toggle between an expanded rose presentation covering 80 compass degrees, and a full rose presentation covering 360 degrees. c) A mechanical interlock prevents the CTR pushbutton from being pressed if the plan mode is selected. 3) The map range is selected by a seven position knob. a) The range knob is a seven position switch with detents for 10, 20, 40, 80, 160, 320, and 640 nautical miles. b) The range selected with this knob also controls the weather radar range for the approach, VOR, and map modes. 4) The ADF/VOR select switches control the display of radio navigation aid raw data for all modes except plan (radio navigation aid raw data is not available in the plan mode). a) The switches affect only the display of the radio data and not the operation or tuning of navigation aids. b) Selecting either the left or right switch to the OFF position blanks the corresponding VOR and ADF raw data display. c) Selecting either switch to the ADF or VOR position results is a display of bearing pointers which are driven by the corresponding radio. These pointers are displayed on the periphery of the track or heading scale. d) A switch position annunciation, frequency or identifier for the tuned station, and DME distance (for VOR only) is provided for both the left and right sources. 5) The DH/MDA knob allows either the Minimum Descent Altitude (MDA) or Decision Height (DH) display on the PFD to be varied. a) An outer concentric, two position knob selects either MDA or DH for adjustment.
b) Once a parameter is set, selecting the switch to the alternate function does not affect the display of the first selected parameter.

c) A continuously turning center knob with 24 detents is provided to adjust the selected parameter. d) The RST (reset) pushbutton causes the DH alert to be cancelled.
6) The BARO set control consists of a knob with a center pushbutton and a two-position rotary switch concentric with the knob. This control is used to select either standard
(29.92 inches) or crew entered barometric reference values.
a) Pressing the STD pushbutton in the center of the knob toggles the PFD display and the transmitted barometric reference value between the standard and the preselected value.
b) When standard is selected, the PFD displays "STD" and a value of 29.92 inches is transmitted to the ADCs.
c) Turning the knob while STD is displayed enables the pre-select barometric reference display. This initializes the pre-select display at the last valid preselected or pilot entered barometric reference. Turning the knob then causes the preselected value to increment or decrement.
d) Pressing the STD knob with "STD" displayed causes the preselected value to be transmitted to the ADCs as a valid barometric reference.. The preselected value replaces the STD annunciation, and the pre-select field blanks. Turning the knob then increments the actual displayed and transmitted barometric reference values.
e) The outer concentric switch selects either inches of mercury or hecto Pascals for barometric pressure reference units. The pre-select and actual BARO set display units correspond to the switch position.
