INTEGRATED DISPLAY SYSTEM - ADJUSTMENT/TEST

1. General_______
A. The Integrated Display System (IDS) has two parts. The Electronic Flight Instrument System (EFIS) and the Engine Indicating and Crew Alerting System (EICAS). The EFIS supplies displays for attitude and navigation data. The EICAS supplies displays for crew alert and status messages, engine parameters, synoptic displays, and maintenance pages.
B. This subject has two tasks. The first task is an operational test of the integrated display system. The second task is a system test of the integrated display system.

2. Operational Test - Integrated Display System____________________________________________
A. General
(1) The operational test does a fast check of the integrated display system. The operational test commands these conditions to occur:
(a)
Puts the six display units into their normal configuration.
(b)
Performs the IDS system ground test which: 1) Puts a test pattern on the displays, 2) Sounds the aural warning, 3) Lights the master caution light,
(c)
Performs a test of the captain's display switching.
(d)
Performs a test of the first officer's display switching.
(e)
Performs a test of the IDU brightness levels.

(b)
Central Maintenance Computer System (CMCS), serviceable (AMM 45-10-00/501).
(c)
Airplane must be in the ground mode (AMM 32-09-02/201).
E. Prepare for the Test

(1) Prepare the integrated display system (IDS) for the test:
(a)
Set the INBD CRT and LWR CRT switches on the captain's display transfer module to the NORM position.
(b)
Set the INBD CRT and LWR CRT switches on the first officer's display transfer module to the NORM position.
(c)
Set the EIU SEL switch on the EICAS control panel/FMC switch to the AUTO position.
(d)
Set the EIU switch on the captain's source select module to the AUTO position.
(e)
Set the EIU switch on the first officer's source select module to the AUTO position.
(f)
Make sure the captain's and the first officer's outboard IDUs show the PFD format.
(g)
Make sure the captain's and the first officer's inboard IDUs show the ND format.
(h)
Make sure the upper IDU shows the EICAS primary engine parameter format.
(i)
Make sure the lower IDU is blank or shows the EICAS secondary engine parameter format.
(j)
Push the captain's or the first officer's master caution light to make sure the master caution lights are not on.

Set the GND TESTS switch on the overhead maintenance panel, P461, to the ENABLE position.

Set the EEC MAINT ENG POWER 1, 2, 3, and 4, switches on the overhead maintenance panel, P461, to the TEST position.

Prepare the CDU for the test:
(a)
Push the MENU key on the CDU to show the MENU.
(b)
Push the line select key (LSK) that is adjacent to <CMC to show the CMC MENU.
(c)
If <RETURN shows after you push the LSK, push the LSK that is adjacent to <RETURN until you see the CMC MENU.
