B. The IDS has nine LRU's that will accept software installation (three EIUs and six IDUs). These LRU's must be independently loaded. A selector switch on the software date loader selects which LRU is loaded.
C. All the IDS LRUs use the same diskette. The diskette must be put back in the disk drive after the selector switch is moved. You move the selector switch when you install software into a different LRU.
D. You only install software into the LRUs that must have new software. It is not necessary to install software into the other LRUs.
E. The IDU LRUs and the selector switch positions are:

First officer's outboard display unit (PFD-F/O)

Supply electrical power (AMM 24-22-00/201).

Prepare the data loader:
(a)
Open the door to the disk drive and eject the plastic protection diskette, if one is installed.
(b)
Set the selector switch of the data loader on the P11 first observer's console panel (bookcase) to the NORMAL position.
E. IDS Software Installation

(1) Install the IDS software:
(a) Put the selector switch of the data loader to the applicable position for the LRU that will get IDS software.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE YOU KNOW THE CORRECT IDS SOFTWARE PART NUMBER
_______ FOR THE EIUs AND IDUs, WHEN YOU PUT THE DISKETTE INTO THE DISK DRIVE. FOR THE EIUs AND IDUs TO BE AN APPROVED INSTALLATION, THE CORRECT SOFTWARE PART NUMBER MUST BE INSTALLED.
(b)
Put the diskette into the disk drive.
(c)
Make sure that these indications occur: 1) The RDY indicator is on approximately five seconds after the diskette installed.
2) The PROG indicator is on approximately three seconds after the RDY indicator goes on (the RDY and PROG indicators should both be illuminated).
NOTE: It can be 2-3 minutes before the PROG indicator is
