 INTEGRATED DISPLAY SYSTEM - MAINTENANCE PRACTICES

 1.  General_______
 NOTE: Transition through certain MACH numbers will cause large changes
____ in the minimun speed display on the PFD. These transitions may also cause the CAPT's and the F/O's minimun speed display to indicate different speeds.
 The frequency of an unpowered APU or external power source may shown as 122 Hertz (rather than 0 Hertz) on the electrical maintenance page.
 Decision speed (V1) and rotation speed (VR) may disappear from the PFD. If this occurs, select the onside EIU switch on the source select module to an alternate EIU position to restore the display.
 If blooming is observed in any IDU, replace the affected IDU. Blooming is described as a glow on one side of the IDU. The IDUs continuosly conduct an off screen beam test that directs the beam outside the normal view area and turns the beam on. The commanded position of the beam display area and display orbiting are close enough to the IDU tolerance, therefore the beam test glow may become visible in some units.
 A. This procedure has these tasks:
 (1)  
Obtaining airplane system information using the Engine Indicating and Crew Alerting (EICAS) portion of the Integrated Display System (IDS).

 (2)  
Erasing latched status level EICAS messages.

 (3)  
Cancelling, recalling and/or erasing EICAS engine parameter exceedances.

 (4)  
Manual Snapshot Recording

 (5)  
Snapshot Display

 (6)  
Snapshot Erasure

 (7)  
Snapshot Memory Reset

 C.  EICAS Information
 (1)  
The EICAS performs the functions of engine indicating and crew alerting. The EICAS displays data transmitted from many systems. In addition to indicating engine data, the EICAS displays and/or stores information related to airplane maintenance, dispatch condition, and system configuration.

 (2)  
There are three configurations of the EICAS display format. These configurations are: normal, non-normal, and degraded.

 (a)  
Normal configuration 1) Two EICAS capable DUs available. 2) Secondary engine parameter exceedances (oil pressure, oil

 temperature, oil quantity, vibration) do not exist.

 (b)  
Non-normal configuration 1) Two EICAS capable DUs available 2) Secondary engine parameter exceedances exist.
