TROUBLE  PROBABLE CAUSE  ISOLATION PROCEDURE  REMEDY 
Problem elevator centering, power on  Excessive friction in elevator control system Elevator control system out of rig Bad centering unit  Check elevator breakout force at column. If force exceeds 7 pounds for up elevator, or 7.5 pounds for down elevator, system friction may be too high. rubbing or misaligned cables. Check for foreign objects interfering with system Check elevator breakout force at column. If force is less than 3 pounds for up elevator or 3.5 pounds for down elevator, center-centering unit input crank up and down by hand. Centering of crank should feel stiff with no backlash Check for proper rigging of elevator control system item: Moderate vertical Check for loose, worn or bad parts. Check for unit may be bad. Discon-nect centering unit input rod from lower torque tube. Check breakout force required to move centering unit input crank. Rod force at breakout is 10 pounds minimum and 14 pounds maximum. Move (AMM 27-31-00/501) Refer to troubleshooting vibration in aft and forward fuselage  Replace worn or bad parts. Remove foreign objects Replace bad feel and centering unit (AMM 27-31-64/ 401) Rig elevator control system (AMM 27-31-00/ 501)

Problem neutral or pitchdown when airplane pitchup Excessive both A and B moved to STBY RUD switches are flight control power on shift operation,  unit Bad centering centering unit binding of Elevator tab out of rig Interference or shift mechanism Defect in neutral rig mechanism out of Neutral shift  Check neutral shift mechanism for worn or bad item: Problem elevator centering, power on Refer to troubleshooting per AMM 27-31-00/501. (AMM 27-31-00/501) Check tab rig position Check elevator centering little effort should be smooth with unit by hand. Movement crank. Rotate centering rod end from neutral shift tube and mach trim actuator input rod from lower torque Disconnect centering unit components of neutral shift mechanism Check for proper rigging per AMM 27-09-400/501 and AMM 27-31-00/501  401) (AMM 27-31-64/ repair bad as required Control System, AMM 27-31-00/501, Elevator and Tab centering unit ence, replace or Remove interfer-required components as Replace or repair mechanism per Rig neutral shift Adjust elevator tab pushrods and perform an eleva-tor power off flight test per AMM 27-31-00/501
