2) Loosen the checknut on the pushrod.
3) Adjust the rod end fitting.
(e)
Install the bolt that attaches the elevator pushrod to the output torque tube.
(f)
Make sure the right elevator aligns with the index mark in 0.12 inch or less.
NOTE: One half turn of the rod end fitting is equal to 0.2
____
inch at the elevator trailing edge.
(g)
Make sure the left elevator aligns with the index mark in 0.12 inch or less.
(h)
Make sure the distance between the left elevator and the right elevator is not more than 0.12 inch.
(i)
If the elevators do not align, adjust the left rod end fittting: 1) Remove the bolt that attaches the elevator pushrod to the
output torque tube. 2) Loosen the checknut on the pushrod. 3) Adjust the rod end fitting. 4) Make sure the left elevator aligns with the index mark in
0.12 inch or less.
(j)
Make sure the distance between the left elevator and the right elevator is not more than 0.12 inch.
(k)
If it is necessary, adjust the right elevator pushrod.
(l)
Apply grease to the threads of the checknuts.
(m)
Tighten the checknuts on the two end fittings to 750-900 pound-inches.
(n)
Install a lockwire.
(o)
Install the bolts that attach the elevator pushrods to the output torque tube.
CAUTION: DO NOT TRY TO TIGHTEN THE FIRST LOCKNUTS AGAIN AFTER YOU
_______ TIGHTEN THE SECOND LOCKNUTS. YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT.
(p) Install the first locknut. 1) Tighten the first locknut to 500-600 pound-inches.

Install the second locknut. 1) Tighten the second locknut to 150-220 pound-inches.
(r)
Remove the rigging and restraining tool.
(s)
Do this task: "Power Control Unit Installation" (AMM 27-31-14/401) to install the right power control unit.
(t)
Adjust the input rod in this task: "Adjustment - Elevator Power Control Unit" (AMM 27-31-14/501).
