Get access to the pitot tube.

 (2)  
Examine the pitot tube for damage.


 NOTE: The pitot tube does not need to be removed for mormal
____ erosion/corrosion of the pitot tip.
 (a)  
If the pitot tube is bent or the electrical heater is damaged, install a new pitot tube (AMM 27-31-94/401).

 (b)  
Make sure the maximuim tip bluntness of the pitot tube is not more than 0.04 inch.

 (3)  
Put the Airplane Back to Its usual Condition

Procedure

 (1)  
Remove the elevator systems A and B hydraulic power (Ref 27-31-00/201).

Use the trammel bar to set the B dimension at 41.57 |0.01 inches (Fig. 501).

Move the control columns fully forward and attach DO-NOT-MOVE tags.

 (a)  
Make sure the control columns are held in this position

 (4)  Remove the bolts that attach the aft end of each elevator control pushrod to its elevator (Fig. 502).

 (5)  S 865-006Remove the DO-NOT-MOVE tags and move the control columns fully aft to the stops: (a) Remove the clevis of the elevator control pushrod from the elevator. (b) Make sure the control columns are held in this position and attach DO-NOT-MOVE tags.
 (6)  S 225-007Measure the breakaway forces (Fig. 502): (a) Hold a loading block against the elevator rear spar adjacent to the elevator inboard rib. 

____NOTE: THE STABILIZER TRIM JACKSCREW IS SHOWN WITH THE STABILIZER LEADING EDGE AT ZERO DEGREES.
