 (1)  
Open these circuit breakers and attach DO-NOT-CLOSE tags:

 (a)  
P6-2 Circuit Breaker Panel
 1) RUDDER TRIM INDICATOR
 2) AILERON TRIM CONTROL
 3) RUDDER TRIM CONTROL

 (2)  
Do a check of the rudder trim knob and lightplate:

 (a)  
Remove the rudder trim knob from the switch shaft.

 (b)  
Put the knob fully down on the switch shaft.

 (c)  
Make sure the rudder trim knob is 0.010-0.050 inch from the top of the lightplate.


 NOTE: Measure the clearance while you push the knob against
____
 the plate.

 1)  If it is necessary, adjust the switch shaft height:
 a)  Use a mixture of shims or washers to get the necessary dimension between the switch shaft and the baseplate (Detail A).
 (d)  Tighten the set screw in the knob.

Remove the DO-NOT-CLOSE tags and close these circuit breakers:

 (a)  
P6-2 Circuit Breaker Panel
 1) RUDDER TRIM INDICATOR
 2) AILERON TRIM CONTROL
 3) RUDDER TRIM CONTROL


 (4)  
Supply electrical power (AMM 24-22-00/201).

Do a test on the rudder trim:

 (a)  
Supply hydraulic power to the rudder trim systems A and B (Ref 27-21-00/201).

 (b)  
Make sure the rudder trim indicator is at 0 +/-0.25 units.

 (c)  
Make sure the rudder is at the neutral position.

 (d)  
Turn the rudder trim knob to NOSE LEFT until the mark on the trim knob aligns with the indicator mark on the control stand.

 (e)  
Make sure the rudder does not move.

 (6)  S 864-001Remove electrical power if it is not necessary (AMM 24-22-00/201).
 (7)  S 864-031Make sure the rudder trim knob does not rub on the lightplate.

 RUDDER AND RUDDER TRIM CONTROL SYSTEM - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION

 1.  General_______
 A.  Yaw control of the airplane is provided by a single conventional rudder without tab. There are two separate hydraulic systems powering one main power control unit. Rudder control backup is provided by a standby power unit, which is driven by a third hydraulic system. Any one of the three hydraulic systems will provide effective rudder control. Rudder trim is accomplished by operating a trim control knob which repositions the rudder centering unit.
