(1)
Put the control column in its position:
(a)
Make sure you install the dust cap as Fig. 402.
(b)
Move the control column to its position.
(c)
Set the control wheel to the neutral position to engage the spade (5) with the clevis (6).

(2) Use the bubble protractor to set the control column to 6.9 | 0.8 degrees forward of a vertical line from the floor (Fig. 402).

Install the control column:
(a)
Engage the face splines on the control column with splines on the forward quadrant connector (12).
(b)
Install the outboard coupling (7) and the coupling retaining bolts (8).
NOTE: Make sure you install a correct bolt.

(c) Measure the gap at both ends of the four clamp assemblies. The two gaps of each pair of clamp halves are to be equal within
0.03 inch.
1) Tighten the bolts (8) to the range of the driving torque.
2) Tighten one bolt (8) and then the other to 50-70
pound-inches in approximately 10 pound-inch increments.
(d)
Make sure the control column angle is 6.9 | 0.8 degrees forward of a vertical line from the floor.
(e)
Connect the wire (10) to the terminal strip in the lower nose compartment. 1) Install the clamps.
(f)
If it is applicable, put the electrical cable of the control column shaker up through the column.
(g)
Install the connector on the cable end and the connector to the control column shaker. 1) Install the cable clamps.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THE RING ASSEMBLY (3) IS INSTALLED, AS MARKED
_______ DURING THE REMOVAL, WITH THE LIP TOWARDS THE TOP AND THE SPACER UNDER THE RING ASSEMBLY (3).
(h)
Install the dust seal (4) and the ring assembly (3).
(i)
Fill the holes between the dust seal halves with filling compound.
(j)
Fill the hole between the notch in the dust seal and the cutout in the floor with filling compound.

CAUTION: DO NOT HOLD THE DUST CAP TOO TIGHTLY AGAINST THE WIRE BUNDLE.
_______ IT CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE.
(4)
If it is necessary, adjust the dust cap (2) to set the edge of the dust seal (4) lightly up against the dust cap (2).

Loosen the clamp (1) to adjust the dust cap.

Remove the rig pin E-1 from the forward quadrant.

Close the access door 1103.

(8) Do a check of the control columns: (a) Move the control column in the two longitudinal directions. (b) Turn the control wheel (11) through full travel. (c) Make sure the system operates correctly.
