Adjust the cable at the turnbuckles to the tension value shown in Table I (Fig. 402).

Make sure you can easily install rig pins R-3 and R-4 in the forward quadrants.

 With the rig pins R-3, R-4, and R-5 installed, make sure you can easily install rig pins R-1 and R-2 in the pedal arms.

 If you cannot easily install rig pin R-1 and R-2, do these steps to change the length of the pushrods:


 NOTE: If it is necessary, do these steps for each of the four
____
 pushrods.

 (a)  
Identify the pedal that is not aligned with the rig pin hole.

 (b)  
Loosen the checknuts on the pushrod.

 (c)  
Remove the bolt that connects the forward rod end.

 (d)  
Turn the pushrod to adjust its length, until rig pin R-1 or R-2 can be easily installed.


 NOTE: Keep the lube fitting on the rod end pointed down.

 (e)  
Make sure you can see the threads on the rod ends through the inspection holes at each end of each pushrod.

 (f)  
Install the pushrod with the bolt, washer, nut, and cotter pin.

 (g)  
Tighten the checknuts.

 (33)
 Remove rig pins R-1, R-2, R-3, R-4, and R-5.

 (34)
 Operate the rudder pedals through one full movement cycle.

 (35)
 Make sure the cables have the tension shown in Table I.

 Install the turnbuckle locking clips, and apply a thin layer of corrosion preventive grease to the threads that you can see.

Procedure


 S 016-007
 (1)  
Remove the forward overhead access panels at the nose wheel well.

 S 016-011

 (2)
Open the lower nose compartment door, 1103 (AMM 12-31-11/201).

 S 216-012

 (3)  
Do a general visual inspection of the rudder pedals and forward quadrants.

 S 416-010

 (4)  
Close the access door, 1103, for the lower nose compartment (AMM 12-31-11/201).
