Use the milliohmmeter to make sure there is a maximum of 0.010 ohms between the rudder and the vertical fin.

Install and tighten the hinge bolts at the No. 4 and 5 hinges. Tighten the hinge bolts to 60 to 85 pound-inches (140 pound-inches maximum to align the cotter pin).

 Install the seals and the seal attachment plates on each side of the vertical fin.

 (1)  Disconnect the forward end of the power control unit for the rudder. Move the forward end right and forward to make sure the power control unit will not hit the rudder clevis.

 (2)  Make sure there is clearance between the seals and the front of the rudder and the balance weights.
 NOTE: Do this with the rudder turned 5 to 8 degrees to the left and

 right side of the center position.

 CAUTION:_______WHEN YOU MOVE THE RUDDER MANUALLY, USE A LOADING BLOCK. PUT THE FORCE ON THE LOADING BLOCK APPROXIMATELY 47 INCHES FROM THE RUDDER HINGE LINE BETWEEN RUDDER STATIONS 13.33 AND 31.65. DO NOT PUT A FORCE OF MORE THAN 50 POUNDS ON THE RUDDER. IF YOU PUT THE FORCE ON THE RUDDER INCORRECTLY, IT CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE RUDDER.
 (3)  
Use a rudder loading block to slowly move the rudder, by hand, through its full travel. If the rudder does not move freely, correct the problem.

Measure the maximum force necessary to move the rudder slowly from the center to its fully left position.

Measure the maximum force necessary to move the rudder slowly from the center to its fully right position.
