D. Procedure

(1)
Put the rudder trim actuator in its position.
(a)
Install the bolt assembly that attaches the rudder trim actuator to the feel and centering unit. 1) Tighten the inner nut to 85-100 pound-inches. 2) Tighten the outer nut to 30-35 pound-inches.
NOTE: Do not tighten the inner nut again.

(b) Install the bolt assembly that attaches the rudder trim actuator to the airplane. 1) Tighten the inner nut to 85-100 pound-inches. 2) Tighten the outer nut to 30-35 pound-inches.
NOTE: Do not tighten the inner nut again.

Connect the electrical connector to the rudder trim actuator.

Remove rig pin R-5.

Do these steps to make sure the rudder trim operates correctly.
(a)
Supply system A and B hydraulic power for the rudder (Ref 27-21-00/201).
(b)
Remove the DO-NOT-CLOSE tags and close these circuit breakers:
1) P6 Circuit Breaker Panel
a) TRIM CONT - RUD
b) RUD TRIM IND
(c)
Move the rudder right as far as you can with the rudder trim knob. 1) Make sure the rudder moves 13.70 |1.10 inches (16.36 |1.30
degrees) in the right direction from neutral.

Move the rudder left as far as you can with the rudder trim knob. 1) Make sure the rudder moves 13.70 |1.10 inches (16.36 |1.30
degrees) in the left direction from neutral.
(e)
Use the rudder trim knob to move the rudder to the left side until the indicator is at 10 |0.25 units. 1) Make sure the rudder moved 7.87 |0.50 inches to the left
side of the neutral position.
(f)
Use the rudder trim knob to move the rudder to the right side until the indicator is at 10 |0.25 units. 1) Make sure the rudder moved 7.87 |0.50 inches to the right
side of the neutral position.
E. Put the Airplane Back to Its Usual Condition

Remove hydraulic power (Ref 27-21-00/201).

Close all of the access doors and panels.

RUDDER POWER CONTROL UNIT - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General_______
A. There are two tasks in this procedure. There is a task for the removal and a task for the installation of the rudder power control unit (PCU).
B. Refer to Chapter 22 for the removal and the installation procedures for the autopilot components of the PCU. The replacement of the filter element is done during the overhaul of the PCU.
