NOTE: The mounting bracket for the standby actuator on the vertical
____ fin is turned 90 degrees for the graphite rudder installation. The bracket can stay in this position.

RUDDER INDEX PLATE - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General_______
A. The rudder index plate is installed on the top of the tail cone on the centerline of the airplane. It is used to align the rudder.
B. It is best if you install the rudder index plate in the same location as the rudder index plate that you removed. If you do not know where the rudder index plate was before, then use the dimensions shown in Figure 401.
C. If the rudder does not trim correctly, refer to AMM 27-09-71/501 to adjust the rudder index plate.

Put tape on the airplane adjacent to the rudder index plate.
(a)
Accurately make a mark of the position of the rudder index plate on the tape.

(2) Remove the screws and the washers and remove the rudder index plate.

If there is tape with a mark that shows the correct position, install the rudder index plate:
(a)
Put the rudder index plate in its position and align it with the mark.
(b)
Install the washers and the screws.
(c)
Remove the tape (that has the mark on it) from the airplane.
