 A.  There are two tasks in this procedure. There is a task for the adjustment and a task for the functional test of the rudder power control unit (PCU).

 (1)  Rig Pin R-5 - 0.311 +0.000/-0.002 inch diameter, 6.7 |0.25-inches long (F70207-11)
 NOTE: The rig pin is a part of the kit F70207-69, -78, or -83.

RUDDER
FOR SMALL RUDDER TRAVEL MEASURE IN A HORIZONTAL RUDDER TABPLANE FROM THE LEFT EDGE INDEX OF THE TAB TO THE INBOARD PLATE CORNER OF THE RUDDER TRAILING EDGE. THIS IS APPLICABLE WITH THE RUDDER TO THE LEFT SIDE OR THE RIGHT SIDE.

 (a)  If the rudder aligns with the tab, tighten the two checknuts on the vernier control rod (Fig. 502).
 NOTE: Make sure the total number of threads that you can see
____ on the sleeve and the rod end is not more than 27 turns.
 (b)  If the rudder does not align with the tab but is not more than
 0.50 inch away from the nearest side of the tab,
 adjust the vernier control rod:
 1) Loosen the two checknuts on the vernier control rod.
 2) Turn the sleeve on the vernier control rod to move the

 rudder until it aligns with the tab. 3) Tighten the two checknuts on the vernier control rod.
 NOTE: Make sure the total number of threads that you can
____ see on the sleeve and the rod end is not more than 27 turns.
 (c)  If the rudder is more than 0.50 inch from the nearest side of the tab, adjust the vernier control rod: 1) Move the FLT CONTROL A and B switches to OFF.
 WARNING: MAKE SURE YOU REMOVE THE HYDRAULIC POWER BEFORE YOU
_______ DISCONNECT THE VERNIER CONTROL ROD FROM THE ACTUATOR INPUT CRANK. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
 2)  Disconnect the vernier control rod from the center crank at
