Open the 1103 and 3701 access doors.

Remove the 3802 access door.

Install the rig pin E-1 in the left forward quadrant and the rig pin E-5 in the aft quadrant (Fig. 401 and 402).

Release tension in the elevator control cables at the turnbuckles in the aft compartment.
(a)
Make sure you do not disconnect the turnbuckles.

Install clamps on the elevator control cables to prevent the cables from moving aft through the bulkhead.

Remove the cables EA and EB from the forward quadrants.
(a)
Remove the retainer pin from each cable end.
(b)
Tag the cables.
(c)
Remove the screws that attach the cable support fairlead to each forward quadrant.

Disconnect the electrical connector at the pitch transducer (5).

If it is necessary, get access to the forward quadrant:
(a)
Remove the pitch transducer (5).
(b)
Remove the mass balance weights from the control column.

1) Remove the four bolts that attach the mass balance weights to the bracket assembly.

(c) Remove the ring assembly (3) and the dust seal (4) from the control column (1).
NOTE: You can make marks on the connector (13) and the forward
____ quadrant to help align the control column during the forward quadrant installation.

(11) Remove the rig pin E-1.

CAUTION: HOLD THE CONTROL COLUMNS AND THE FORWARD QUADRANT WHEN YOU
_______ REMOVE THEM. THEY CAN FALL AND CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.

Remove the forward quadrant (7):
(a)
Remove the coupling (8): 1) Remove the two inboard coupling bolts (9). 2) Remove the coupling (8).
(b)
Move the control column outboard until you disengage the connector (13) from the forward quadrant (7).
(c)
Remove the forward quadrant (7) from the airplane.

(13) If it is necessary, remove the electrical cable and clamps from the pitch transducer (5) for the replacement transducer.

NOTE: The rig pins are part of the kit F70207-69, -78 or -83.
