 (c)  
Move the control column lightly in a longitudinal direction to make sure the control column is in the center. 1) Release the control column.

 (d)  
Set the FLT CONTROL A switch to OFF.

 (e)  
Install the rig pin E-5.

 If the distance from the trailing edge to the index mark is more than 0.4 inch, Adjust the left input rod:

 (a)  
Disconnect the lower end of the input rod from the quadrant crank.

 (b)  
Adjust the input rod to align the elevator trailing edge and the index mark to less than 0.4 inch.

 (c)  
Install the lockbolt assembly with the washer below the bolt head.

 (d)  
Tighten the outer bolt to 75-85 pound-inches.


 CAUTION: DO NOT TRY TO TIGHTEN THE OUTER BOLT AGAIN AFTER YOU
_______ TIGHTEN THE LOCKNUT. IF YOU TIGHTEN THE OUTER BOLT AGAIN YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT.
 (e)  Install the locknut with the washer on the end of the inner bolt. 1) Tighten the locknut to 15-20 pound-inches.

 Set the FLT CONTROL A switch to ON.

 If the distance from the trailing edge to the index mark is less than 0.4 inch, Adjust the left input rod:

 (a)  
Turn the sleeve until the trailing edge of the elevator aligns with the index mark in 0.06 inch.

 (b)  Tighten the two checknuts on the input rod.
 1)  If it is necessary, get access to the checknuts: a) Set the FLT CONTROL A switch to OFF. b) If it is necessary, remove the rig pin E-5. c) Push the elevator trailing edge down to get access to
 the checknuts.
 (c)  Put the elevator to the neutral position. 1) Make sure you install the rig pin pin E-5.

 Make sure the FLT CONTROL A switch is in the OFF position.

 Do a check of the left and right input rods for minimum thread engage.

 (a)  
Make sure you see a maximum of 32 threads on the clevis and the sleeve for each input rod.

 Make sure that the PCUs are synchronized:

 (a)  
Set the FLT CONTROL A and B switches to ON.

 (b)  
Set the FLT CONTROL A switch to OFF and then to ON.

 (c)  
Set the FLT CONTROL B switch to OFF and then to ON.

 (d)  
Make sure that the inboard end of the elevator trailing edge moves 0.02 inch or less.

 (e)  
If it is necessary, adjust the sleeves of the input rods.
