9) Seal the nutplate, the edge of the elevator tab skin and the hinge fitting with sealant.
(5) S 864-019Manually turn all the hinge fittings through full travel. (a) Make sure that the hinge fittings move freely.
(6) S 434-021Install the elevator tab and the hinge fittings at the elevator rear spar. (a) Install the bolt, the washer, the bushings and the nut. (b) Tighten the nut to 50 to 80 pound-inches. (c) Align the cotter pin holes on the nut and bolt and install the cotter pin.
(7) S 864-020Move the elevator tab through full travel. (a) Make sure that the elevator tab moves freely.
(8) S 434-017At the hinge fittings of the inboard and outboard elevator tab, install the bonding jumpers to the elevator tab. (a) Clean the mating surfaces for the bonding jumpers. (b) Use the milliohmmeter to make sure the resistance of the bonding jumper connection is less than 0.010 ohms. (c) Seal the bonding jumpers with sealant.
(9) S 434-018Connect the elevator tab pushrods to the elevator tab. (a) AIRPLANES WITH THE ALUMINUM TAB PUSHRODS; Make sure you install the bushings. 1) Install the bolts with the threaded ends pointed toward each other. (b) AIRPLANES WITH THE TITANIUM TAB PUSHRODS; Make sure you install the bushings. 1) Install the bolts with the threaded ends pointed towards each other. (c) Do not install the nut and the washer until you align the elevator tab.
CAUTION:_______ IF NUTS ARE NOT TORQUED PROPERLY THEN THE PUSHRODS CAN BECOME DETACHED AND CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELEVATORS AND STABILIZERS.
(d) Tighten the nut to 30 - 50 pound-inches.
NOTE:____ Make sure that a new nut is installed.
1) Make sure that torque remains at 30 - 50 pound-inches after alignment of the nut castallations and bolt cotter pin holes.
