 (e)  After a replacement of an elevator tab hinge bearing. (3, Fig. 513)
NOTE: It is not necessary to do a flight test if
____
 -
you do not remove the hinge fitting assemblies from the tab when you replace the bearing.

 -
you do not adjust the elevator tab control rods.

-when the tab rods are removed, you install the same tab rod in the same left and right locations on the same tabs.
 (f)
After replacement of the elevator tab hinge fittings.

 (g)
After a replacement of the inboard elevator tab hinge bushing.

NOTE: It is not necessary to do a flight test if
____
 -
you replace bolts at any elevator tab hinge location.

 -
you replace bushings at any or all three outboard hinge locations.

 (h)
After a maintenance where on-jig rebalance of the elevator is necessary (See Structural Repair Manual, Chapter 51)

 (2)
The flight test is necessary because the maintenance action can affect the flight characteristics of the airplane and incorrect adjustment can cause an unacceptable pitch and attitude upset in the event of a dual hydraulic system loss. Since the magnitude and attitude of this pitch upset cannot be predicted to sufficient accuracy or verified on the ground, a flight test is necessary to determine the unbalanced moment. The unbalanced moment is reflected in terms of the number and direction the pilot must turn the stabilizer trim wheel to return the airplane to level flight after initiating manual reversion. If the number and direction of stabilizer trim wheel turns are not within the limits, then the elevator tab pushrods need to be re-adjusted and a subsequent flight test performed. The number and direction of stabilizer trim wheel turns should be recorded during the manual reversion flight test since this information is needed to correctly re-adjust the pushrods.

Prepare for Test
 S 825-107
 (1)
Make sure you adjust the appropriate system or systems before the flight test if these conditions exist:

 (a)
Aileron trim requirement more than 3/4 unit

 (b)
Rudder trim requirement more than 1/2 unit

 S 825-093
 (2)
Adjust the elevator tab pushrods before the flight test.Do the Test of the Elevator Power Off Trim

 S 715-094

 (1)
Make sure you satisfy these flight conditions:

 (a)
Indicated Airspeed: 0.74 MACH

 (b)
Altitude: Flight Level 35,000 feet

 (c)
80,000 to 100,000 pounds gross weight

 (d)
10 to 20 percent MAC center of gravity

 (e)
N1 equal for both engines

 (f)
Wing fuel loads equal

 (g)
Flaps up

 S 865-089
 (2)
Set the SPOILER A and B switches on the P5 Pilots Overhead Panel to OFF.

 S 865-090

 (3)
Set the FLT CONTROL A and B switches, on the P5 Pilots Overhead Panel, to STDBY RUD.

NOTE: To successfully complete the test, the airplane must be
____ re-trim to the same mach number. To provide a greater precision for the maneuver, someone other than the pilot in command should set the switches.
