Examine the rudder hinges for worn parts (AMM 27-21-11/601).

Lubricate the rudder hinges (AMM 12-22-21/301).

Connect the rudder sling to the rudder (Fig. 402).

Loosen all the seals at the trailing edge of the fin and move them fully forward.

(2) Move the bearing bars for hinges 1, 3, 6, and 7 up or down until
they engage their mating clevis at the vertical fin.

(3) Install and tighten the hinge bolts at hinges 1, 7, 2, 6, and 3 in
that sequence (AMM 27-21-21/401).
NOTE:____ Do not connect the bearing bar for hinge 2 to the rudder at
this time.

Connect these components:
(a)
The bonding jumper at hinge 3
(b)
The bonding jumper you find approximately 5.5 inch below hinge 7.

Apply some of the sealant to each end of the jumpers and their fasteners.

Use the milliohmmeter to make sure there is a maximum of 0.010 ohms between the rudder and the vertical fin.

Use shims to adjust the clearance between the rudder hinge segment and the bearing bar at hinge 2.

Tighten the bolts that connect the bearing bar for hinge 2 to the rudder (AMM 27-21-21/401).
