Set the FLT CONTROL A switch to ON.
Measure the distance from the trailing edge of the left
elevator to the index mark (Fig. 505).
Set the FLT CONTROL A switch to OFF.
Loosen the checknuts on the left input rod, but do not change
the rod length.
1) If it is necessary, get access to the checknuts:
a) Remove the rig pin E-5.
b) Push the elevator trailing edge up to get access to the
checknuts.Put the elevator to the neutral position: 1) Align the trailing edge with the index mark. 2) Set the FLT CONTROL A switch to ON. 3) Move the control column lightly in the forward and aft
directions to make sure system is in the center position.
a) Release the control column. 4) Set the FLT CONTROL A switch to OFF. 5) Install the rig pin E-5.If the distance from the trailing edge of the left elevator to the index mark is more than 0.4 inch, Adjust the left input rod: 1) Disconnect the lower end of the input rod from the quadrant
crank. 2) Adjust the input rod to align the elevator trailing edge and the index mark to less than 0.04 inch. 3) Install the lockbolt assembly with a washer below the bolt head. 4) Tighten the outer bolt to 75-85 pound-inches.
CAUTION: DO NOT TRY TO TIGHTEN THE OUTER BOLT AGAIN AFTER YOU
_______ TIGHTEN THE LOCKNUT. YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT.
5) Install the locknut with the washer on the end of the inner bolt. a) Tighten the locknut to 15-20 pound-inches.
If the distance from the trailing edge of the left elevator to
the index mark is less than 0.4 inch,
Adjust the left input rod:
1) Set the FLT CONTROL A switch to ON.
2) Turn the sleeve until the elevator trailing edge aligns
with the index mark in 0.04 inch or less. 3) Tighten the two checknuts on the input rod. 4) If it is necessary, get access to the checknuts:
a) Set the FLT CONTROL A switch to OFF.
b) If it is necessary, remove the rig pin E-5.
c) Push the elevator trailing edge down to get access to
the checknuts.
5) Put the elevator to the neutral position: a) Align the elevator trailing edge with the index mark. b) Set the FLT CONTROL A switch to ON.

c) Move the control column lightly in the forward and aft directions to make sure the system is in the center position.
d) Release the control column. e) Set the FLT CONTROL A switch to OFF. f) Install the rig pin E-5.

Make sure you see a maximum of 32 threads on the clevis and the sleeve for the left and right input rods.
(r)
Make sure the PCUs are synchronized: 1) Set the FLT CONTROL A and B switches to ON. 2) Set the FLT CONTROL A switch to OFF and then to ON. 3) Set the FLT CONTROL B switch to OFF and then to ON. 4) Make sure the inboard end of the elevator trailing edge
moves 0.02 inch or less. 5) If it is necessary, adjust the sleeves of the input rods.

Remove the rig pin E-5.

If the hydraulic power is not necessary, do this task: "Put the Elevator Hydraulic Systems A and B Back to the Condition Before the Pressurization" (AMM 27-31-00/201).

Adjust the input rods of the neutral shift and the output rod of the feel and centering unit (Fig. 507):
(a)
Do this task: "Remove the pressure from the Elevator Hydraulic Systems A and B" (AMM 27-31-00/201).
(b)
Make sure that the B dimension is at 41.57 |0.01 inches.
(c)
Make sure that the mach trim actuator is in the NULL position (AMM 27-31-00/201).
