Do this task: "Mach Trim Actuator Removal" (Ref 22-21-11/401).

Remove the centering unit (Fig. 401):

 (a)  
Disconnect the output rod (5) from the crank (4) of the aft control quadrant.

 (b)  
Disconnect the microadjustment rod (9) from the centering unit.

 (c)  
Disconnect the hydraulic lines.

 (d)  
Remove the four bolts that attach each bearing assembly (7) to the support bracket (8).

 (e)  
Remove the centering unit (2) from the airplane.

 S 224-024 CAUTION: YOU MUST CAREFULLY DO THE TASK BELOW BEFORE YOU INSTALL THE

 CENTERING UNIT.  FAILURE TO DO THE STEPS CORRECTLY CAN CAUSE
 DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT.
 (1)  If it is necessary do this task: " Feel and Centering Unit Wear Limits Inspection" (Ref 27-31-64/601). (a) If the recommended inspection is done, adjust the input rods of the neutral shift and the output rod of the feel and centering unit in this task: "Adjustment - Elevator and Tab Control System" (Ref 27-31-00/501).

 (2)  Install the centering unit (2) (Fig. 401): (a) Install the feel actuator to the feel and centering unit if not already installed (b) Set the centering unit (2) on the support bracket (8) between the flanges. (c) align the bolt installation holes in the bearing housing and the bracket.
 (d) (e)  Install the four bolts through each bearing assembly (7) in the support bracket (8).Attach the microadjustment rod (9) to the centering unit. Make sure that the index mark on the neutral shift sensor shaft
