Procedure

 (1)  
Do this task: "Elevator Removal" (Ref 27-31-11/401).

 (2)  
Examine the parts for worn areas:

 (a)  
Use a micrometer or a vernier caliper to measure the parts for the worn areas.

 (b)  
Compare the dimensions you measured with the permitted dimensions shown in Fig. 601 or 602.

 (c)  
Replace the parts that are not in the tolerance.

If the bearings in Figure 602 need to be replaced, use the bearing retention/removal kit to replace the bearings.

 1.  General_______
 A.  This procedure has two tasks, one for the removal and one for the installation of the elevator power control unit (which is referred to as the "PCU"). The procedure has these parts:

The removal of the elevator PCU

 (2)  
The installation of the replacement elevator PCU.
