Rudder Travel Test

Set the rudder trim knob to the neutral position.

Disconnect the pushrod to the nose wheel steering (Fig. 503).


 NOTE: It is not necessary to disconnect the nose gear steering if
____ the airplane is jacked, and the nose gear is fully extended.

 WARNING: KEEP PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT AWAY FROM ALL CONTROL SURFACES WHEN
_______ HYDRAULIC POWER IS SUPPLIED. AILERONS, ELEVATORS, RUDDER, FLAPS, SLATS, SPOILERS, AND STABILIZER ARE FULLY POWERED SURFACES. INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR WHEN HYDRAULIC POWER IS SUPPLIED.

Supply systems A and B hydraulic power to the rudder system (Ref 27-21-00/201).

Put the FLT CONTROL A switch to ON and the FLT CONTROL B switch to OFF.

Move the captain's left pedal until it touches the forward quadrant stop.

 (6)  S 225-026Move the captain's right pedal until it touches the forward quadrant stop. (a) Measure the rudder travel, and make sure the movement is 21.82 (+/- 0.80) inches (Fig. 501).
 (7)  S 865-027Put the FLT CONTROL A switch to OFF and the FLT CONTROL B switch to ON.
 (8)  S 225-028Move the captain's left pedal until it touches the forward quadrant stop. (a) Measure the rudder travel, and make sure the movement is 21.82 (+/- 0.80) inches (Fig. 501).
