Remove the rudder pedal assemblies.
(a)
Remove the nuts from the two ends of the rudder pedal support shaft (Fig. 401).
(b)
Hold the two rudder pedal assemblies and remove the support shaft through the floor structure.
(c)
Lift the two rudder pedal assemblies up through the cabin floor.

WARNING:_______MAKE SURE THE NOSE LANDING GEAR IS POINTED FORWARD. IF THE TIRES ARE NOT PARALLEL WITH THE AIRPLANE, THEY CAN TURN QUICKLY WHEN YOU REMOVE THE TOW PIN. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1) Install the TOW PIN at the steering metering valve on the nose landing gear (AMM 09-11-00/201).
NOTE: This is to make sure the nose landing gear does not turn.

(2) Do a check of the wear limits for the rudder pedal assembly (AMM 27-21-07/601).

(3) Install the rudder pedal assembly in the floor structure.
(a) Apply a layer of corrosion preventive compound to the support
shaft for the rudder pedals.
(b) Hold the two rudder pedal assemblies in their positions in the
floor structure.
(c) Install the support shaft through the floor structure and the
rudder pedal assemblies from the outboard side.
(d) Tighten the nuts on the support shaft to 100 to 125
pound-inches more than the nut run-on torque.

(4) Install the rig pin R-3 in the forward quadrant.

(5) Put the upper cover assembly, with the flexshaft attached, on the
floor above the rudder pedals (Fig. 402).
NOTE:____ Do not install the screws in the cover.

Connect the flexshaft to the forward quadrant jackshaft.
(a)
Put the flexshaft in its position aft of the jackshaft.
(b)
Put the washer and the shaft retaining nut on the end of the flexshaft.
(c)
Put the flexshaft into the jackshaft and turn it until it engages the pin in the jackshaft.
(d)
Tighten the shaft retaining nut.

Install the screws that connect the upper cover assembly of the rudder pedal to the support structure.

Install the cover extension.

Put the rudder pedals in their center position with these steps:
(a)
Use the adjustment crank to move the rudder pedals to their fully forward position.
(b)
Turn the adjustment crank back 6.5 turns from the fully forward position.

Connect the quadrant pushrods to the rudder pedal arms.
