 2)  Measure and make a record of the distance between the trailing edges of the upper rudder and the lower rudder (this is the mismatch).
 NOTE: The mismatch is positive if the upper rudder is
____ outboard of the lower rudder. The mismatch is negative if the upper rudder is inboard of the lower rudder.
 3) Calculate the travel of the upper rudder: LT = Lower rudder travel (in inches) UT = Upper rudder travel (in inches) MM = mismatch between the lower and upper rudder (in
 inches)
 UT = LT + (1.24 X MM)
 4)  Make sure the travel of the lower rudder and the upper rudder is 13.4-15.9 inches.
 (f)  
Release the rudder pedals.

 (g)  
If procedure 1 was used to extend the actuator, push the LSK that is adjacent to END TEST> on the CDU.

 (h)  
If procedure 2 was used to extend the actuator, slowly remove the pressure from the pitot-static system (AMM 34-11-00/201).

Put the Airplane Back to Its Usual Condition

Remove rig pin E-1 from the captain's control column (Fig. 501).

Remove the TOW PIN at the nose landing gear (AMM 09-11-00/201).

 UPPER AND LOWER RUDDER - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

 1.  General_______
 A.  This procedure has five tasks. The first two remove and install the lower rudder. The second two remove and install the upper rudder. The fifth task is to do an operational test of the rudders.
 B.  You must remove the lower rudder before you can remove the upper rudder.
 C.  The procedure to remove the lower rudder has these basic steps:
 (1)  
Put the upper rudder in the full right position.

 (2)  
Make sure the airplane is in a safe condition.

 (3)  
Install support equipment for the rudder.

 (4)  
Disconnect the hinges and the power control package (PCP) from the rudder.

 (5)  
Remove the rudder.

 D.  
The procedure to install the lower rudder has these basic steps:

 (1)  
Make sure the seals are in good condition.

 (2)  
Put the rudder in its position.

 (3)  
Connect the hinges and the PCP's for the rudder.

 (4)  
Remove the support equipment.

 E.  
The procedure to remove the upper rudder has these basic steps:

 (1)  
Remove the lower rudder.

 (2)  
Install support equipment for the upper rudder.

 (3)  
Disconnect the hinges and the power control package (PCP) from the rudder.

 (4)  
Remove the rudder.

 F.  
The procedure to install the upper rudder has these basic steps:
