Make sure the EICAS flight controls maintenance page shows the upper rudder is 31.5 |1.5 degrees left.

 (e)  
Push the captain's right rudder pedal fully forward and hold it.

 (f)  
Make sure the EICAS status page shows that the upper rudder is at the right limit of the travel.

 (g)  
Make sure the EICAS flight controls maintenance page shows the upper rudder is 31.5 |1.5 degrees right.

 (h)  
Put the FLT CONTROL HYD POWER - TAIL switch No. 3 on the P461 Pilot's Overhead Maintenance Panel in the NORM position.

 (2)  
Do the test of the upper rudder center and lower actuators:

 (a)  
Put the FLT CONTROL HYD POWER - TAIL switch No. 1 on the P461 Pilot's Overhead Maintenance Panel in the SHUTOFF position.

 (b)  
Open these circuit breakers and attach DO-NOT-CLOSE tags:


 1)  P180 DC Power Distribution Panel a) 180H8 ELEV/RUD VLV SYS 1

 (c)  
Push the captain's left rudder pedal fully forward and hold it.

 (d)  
Make sure the EICAS status page shows that the upper rudder is at the left limit of the travel.

 (e)  
Make sure the EICAS flight controls maintenance page shows the upper rudder is 31.5 |1.5 degrees left.

 (f)  
Push the captain's right rudder pedal fully forward and hold it.

 (g)  
Make sure the EICAS status page shows that the upper rudder is at the right limit of the travel.

 (h)  
Make sure the EICAS flight controls maintenance page shows the upper rudder is 31.5 |1.5 degrees right.

 (i)  
Remove the DO-NOT-CLOSE tags and close these circuit breakers:

 1)  P180 DC Power Distribution Panel a) 180H8 ELEV/RUD VLV SYS 1

 (j)  
Put the FLT CONTROL HYD POWER - TAIL switch No. 1 on the P461 Pilot's Overhead Maintenance Panel in the NORM position.

Make sure there are no leaks at the hydraulic connections for the actuators for the upper rudder.

 E.  
Put the Airplane Back to Its Usual Condition

Fill the hydraulic reservoirs if it is necessary (Ref 12-12-01/301).

 (2)  
Make sure the four FLT CONTROL HYD POWER - TAIL switches on the P461 Pilot's Overhead Maintenance Panel are in the NORM position.

 WARNING:_______MAKE SURE THE NOSE WHEELS POINT FORWARD. IF THE NOSE WHEELS DO NOT POINT FORWARD, THE NOSE GEAR CAN QUICKLY TURN TO THE CENTERED POSITION WHEN YOU REMOVE THE TOW PIN. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
 (3)  
Remove the TOW PIN from the nose landing gear (Ref 09-11-00/201).

 (4)  
Remove the hydraulic power (Ref 29-11-00/201).

 (5)  
Remove the electrical power (Ref 24-22-00/201).

 LOWER RUDDER POWER CONTROL ACTUATOR - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

 1.  General_______
 A.  There are six tasks in this procedure. There is a task to prepare the airplane for the removal of one of the power control actuators (referred to as the actuator or the PCA). There are tasks for the removal and tasks for the installation of the upper and lower actuators for the lower rudder. There is also a task that you use to put the airplane back to its usual condition after you install an actuator.
 B.  The PCA removal tasks have these parts:
 (1)  
The preparation for the removal

 (2)  
The removal of the hydraulic lines
