 (8)  S 024-057Do these steps to remove the upper rudder from the airplane.
 WARNING:_______ PERSONS MUST HOLD THE RUDDER TO KEEP IT STABLE. THE RUDDER CAN TRY TO TURN OR MOVE WHEN YOU DISCONNECT THE HINGES. THE RUDDER CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT IF IT MOVES.
 (a) (b)  Remove the lockbolt (59) and the cotter pin (56) from hinges No. 7 and 8.Remove the nuts (55, 60) on hinges No. 7 and 8.

 (c)  
Loosen the threaded bushings (52) in hinges No. 7 and 8 until their ends are fully retracted.

 (d)  
Remove the hinge pins (48, 49, 64, 65) at hinges No. 7 and No. 8.

 (e)  
Remove the nut (44) at hinge No. 6.

 (f)  
Remove the bolt (38) at hinge No. 6.

 (g)  
Remove the nuts (3) at hinges No. 5, 9, 10, and 11.

 (h)  
Remove the bolts (1) at hinges No.5, 9, 10, and 11.

 (i)  
Do these steps to carefully move the rudder away from the vertical fin:

 NOTE: Persons must hold the rudder with their hands to help
____ the crane move the rudder.
 1)  Move the rudder to the rear, 6 inches at a time.
 2)  Make sure the rudder does not hit the trailing edge of the vertical fin.
 3)  Move the rudder back until it is clear of the airplane.
 (j)  
Release the lock on the sling and manually turn the rudder until the hinges point up.

 (k)  
Lock the sling.

 (l)  
Do these steps to put the rudder on the ground: 1) Put the trailing edge of the rudder on a soft material. 2) Put the rudder on its side.
