RUDDER POWER CONTROL MODULE - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General_______
A. There are four tasks in this procedure. The first two are the removal and the installation of the rudder power control module (which is referred to as the PCM). The second two are the removal and the installation for the filters of the PCM.
B. The upper rudder PCM contains two inlet filters and one transfer filter. The lower rudder PCM contains one inlet filter and one transfer filter.
C. The removal and the installation procedures are the same for upper and lower rudder PCM.
D. The removal and the installation procedures are the same for the inlet and the transfer filters.
E. The removal and the installation procedures of the PCM solenoid valve and the PCM electrohydraulic servo valve are in 22-21-04/201.

D. Prepare for the Removal

WARNING:_______MAKE SURE THE NOSE WHEELS POINT FORWARD. IF THE NOSE WHEELS DO NOT POINT FORWARD, THE NOSE GEAR CAN QUICKLY TURN TO THE CENTER POSITION WHEN YOU REMOVE THE TOW PIN. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1) Install the TOW PIN at the steering metering valve for the nose landing gear (Ref 09-11-00/201).
NOTE: The nose gear will turn during the rudder operation if you do

not install the TOW PIN.

(2) Supply the electrical power (Ref 24-22-00/201).

WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF ALL CONTROL
_______ SURFACES BEFORE YOU SUPPLY HYDRAULIC POWER. THE AILERONS, RUDDERS, ELEVATORS, FLAPS, SPOILERS, LANDING GEAR, AND THRUST REVERSERS CAN MOVE QUICKLY WHEN YOU SUPPLY HYDRAULIC POWER. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.

Supply hydraulic power to the hydraulic systems No. 1 and 2
(Ref 29-11-00/201).

Set the upper and lower rudder to the center position.

Set the rudder trim to zero.

Install the rudder clamps between the upper and lower rudders, and the rudders and vertical fin.

Remove the hydraulic power (Ref 29-11-00/201).
