MAINTENANCE MANUAL

 (i)  Install the bushings (5), the washer (2), and the bolt (1) in
 hinges No. 5, 9, 10, and 11.
 (j)  Make sure the lockwashers (6) are installed correctly at hinges
 No. 5, 9, 10, and 11.
 (k)  Lower the rudder until the bushing (68) (at hinge No. 8) has no
 clearance above it or below it.
 (l)  Tighten the threaded bushings (52) in hinges No. 7 and 8 with
 your hand. Tighten them until there is no clearance between
 them and the bearings in the vertical fin.
 (m)  On hinge No. 7, add washers (63) if it is necessary to make a
 clearance of 0.02-0.05 inches between the washers (63) and the
 threaded bushings (52) (Fig. 404).
 (n)  Apply sealant to the mating surfaces of the washers (63), and
 the bushings (52).
 (o)  Install the washers (61) and the nuts (60) (do not tighten the
 nuts) at hinges No.7 and 8. Also, install the washers (62)
 until the lockbolts (59) engage the nuts (60) correctly.
 (p)  Install the washers (53) and the nuts (55) (do not tighten the
 nuts) at hinges No.7 and 8. Also, install the washers (54)
 until the cotter pins (56) engage the nuts (55) correctly.
 (q)  Make sure the antirotation lug (50) on hinge No. 7 is engaged
 with the stud (51).
 (r)  Make sure the antirotation lug (66) on hinge No. 8 is engaged
 with the stud (67).
 (s)  Tighten the nuts (60) to 2000-2400 pound-inches.
 (t)  If it is necessary, tighten the nuts (60) to a maximum of 3200
 pound-inches to let you install the lockbolt (59).
 (u)  Install the lockbolt (59), the washer (58), and the nut (57).
 (v)  Tighten the nuts (55) to 300-500 pound-inches.
 (w)  If it is necessary, tighten the nuts (55) to a maximum of 700
 pound-inches to let you install the cotter pins (56).
 (x)  Install the cotter pins (56).
 (y)  Install the washer(s) (46), and the nut (44), on hinge No. 6.
 NOTE: Install the washers (46) until the cotter pin (45)____
 engages the nut (44) correctly.
 (z)  Tighten the nut (44) to 1300-2000 pound-inches.
 NOTE: Put the nut in a position where you can install the____
 cotter pin (45).

 (aa) Install the cotter pin (45).
 (ab) Install the bushings (5), the washers (2, 4), and the nuts (3) at hinges No. 5, 9, 10, and 11.
 (ac) Tighten the nuts (3) to 60-85 pound-inches.

 (ad) Install as many large washers (2) as it is necessary to get a clearance of 0.01-0.06 inch (Section A-A). 1) Tighten the nut (3) again, if you removed it.

 (2)  Clean the mating surfaces for the bonding jumpers.

 (9)  Do these steps to connect the power control package (PCP) to the upper rudder. (a) Make sure the bolt assembly (24) has all of these parts: housing assembly (20), cap (17), washers (19), cap screws (18), and lockwire on the cap screws. (b) Do these steps to install the bushing (22) on the bolt assembly (24). 1) Apply adhesive to the bushing (22). 2) Push the bushing (22) against the head of the bolt assembly (24) with a minimum force of 70 pounds. (c) Apply a thin layer of grease to the bolt assembly (24) and the bolt (9). (d) Install the bushing (8) and the bolt (9) in the upper actuator of the PCP.
