E. Prepare to Remove the Upper Rudder

Do the procedure above to remove the lower rudder.

Remove the access panels on the verticle fin for the upper rudder.

Attach a lifting pad to each of the four lift points on the rudder (Fig. 401).

WARNING: MAKE SURE PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR BELOW THE RUDDERS.
_______ OBJECTS CAN FALL AND CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1)
Do these steps to disconnect the power control package (PCP) from the rudder.
(a)
Remove the bolt (9) that connects the lower actuator (7) to the upper rudder (11).
(b)
Remove the bolt (9) that connects the reaction link for the lower actuator (14) to the upper rudder (11).
(c)
Hold the lower actuator and the reaction link.
(d)
Remove the bolt (9) that connects the upper actuator (15) to the upper rudder (11).
(e)
Hold the upper actuator.
(f)
Do these steps to disconnect the center actuator from the upper rudder. 1) Remove the nut (25) from the bolt assembly (24). 2) Remove the bolts (16) (2 locations) and (30). 3) Remove the summing lever support (27). 4) Remove the bolt assembly (24).
(g)
Hold the center actuator.

Remove the bolt (34) to disconnect the control rod of the position transmitter from the upper rudder.
(a)
Hold the control rod clear of the rudder.
