Make sure the horizontal reaction link will fit to the power control package at the forward end.

If it does not, make sure the flange bushings are correctly installed.

Examine the fittings of the aileron and the horizontal reaction link for corrosion.

Install the horizontal reaction link (Fig. 401):
(a)
Apply a layer of grease on the aft bolt.
(b)
Install the antirotation plate on the attach bolt.
(c)
Install the retaining ring on the aft bolt.
(d)
Install the bushing, washer and bolt (Section A-A).
(e)
Measure the run-on torque of the nut with a spanner wrench.
(f)
Tighten the aft bolt nut to 2850-3050 pound-inches.
NOTE: Use the antirotation plate to hold the bolt head when
____
you tighten the nut.
(g)
Apply a thin layer of grease on the forward bolt.
(h)
Install the forward bolt and washers (Section B-B).
(i)
Install the nuts but do not tighten.
(j)
Measure the run-on torque of the nuts with the spanner wrenches.
(k)
Tighten the large nut to 40-60 pound-inches more than the run-on torque.
(l)
Tighen the small nut to 40-60 pound-inches more than the run-on torque.
(m)
Install the middle bolt to attach the horizontal reaction link to the power control package.

Remove the inboard aileron lock.

Do a check on the operation of the aileron:
(a)
Supply electrical power (Ref 24-22-00/201).
(b)
Supply hydraulic power (Ref 29-11-00/201).
(c)
Turn the aileron control wheel quickly through full travel each direction from the neutral position. 1) Make sure the ailerons operate correctly.
(d)
Turn the control wheel full clockwise.
1) Make sure the right aileron moves full UP.
2) Make sure the left aileron moves full DOWN.
(e)
Turn the control wheel full counterclockwise.
1) Make sure the left aileron moves full UP.
2) Make sure the right aileron moves full DOWN.
