The PCA installation tasks have these parts:

 (1)  
A check of the PCA for worn areas

 (2)  
The installation of the PCA

 (3)  
The installation of the hydraulic lines

 (4)  
The return of the airplane to its usual condition.

 (5)  
An operational test of the PCA

 D.  
Do not remove more than one power control actuator at the same time, unless you install a rudder actuator lock (G27008).


 NOTE: Remove the rudder clamp when you install the rudder actuator lock.
____ You only need one rudder actuator lock when more than one actuator is removed.

You must use this procedure to prepare the airplane for the removal of the actuators for the lower rudder.

Procedure


 S 494-066
 WARNING:_______MAKE SURE THE NOSE WHEELS POINT FORWARD. IF THE NOSE WHEELS DO NOT POINT FORWARD, THE NOSE GEAR CAN QUICKLY TURN TO THE CENTERED POSITION WHEN YOU REMOVE THE TOW PIN. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
 (1)  Install the TOW PIN at the steering metering valve for the nose landing gear (AMM 09-11-00/201).
 NOTE: The nose gear will turn during the rudder operation if you

 do not install the TOW PIN.

 (2)  Supply the electrical power (AMM 24-22-00/201).

 WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF ALL CONTROL
_______ SURFACES BEFORE YOU SUPPLY HYDRAULIC POWER. AILERONS, RUDDERS, ELEVATORS, FLAPS, SPOILERS, LANDING GEAR, AND THRUST REVERSERS CAN MOVE QUICKLY WHEN YOU SUPPLY HYDRAULIC POWER. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
 (3) Supply the system No. 1 and 4 hydraulic power (AMM 29-11-00/201).

 CAUTION:_______MOVE THE RUDDER PEDALS SLOWLY AND SMOOTHLY. THE MINIMUM TIME TO MOVE THE RUDDER THROUGH A FULL CYCLE IS 8 SECONDS. IF YOU MOVE THE RUDDER TOO QUICKLY, THE POWER CONTROL PACKAGE CAN BE DAMAGED.
 (4)  
Push the captain's left rudder pedal forward and hold in this position.

 (a)  
Make sure that the rudder travels to the full left position.

 (5)  
Lock the left rudder pedal in this position.

Install the rudder clamp between the upper and the lower rudders approximately two inches from the trailing edge.

Put the FLT CONTROL HYD POWER - TAIL switches No. 1, 2, 3, and 4 on the P461, Pilot's Overhead Maintenance Panel in the SHUTOFF position.
