 1)  Make sure that EICAS shows that the rudders are in their center positions.

Use the rudder trim switch to move the rudders to their fully left position.

 (1) Remove rig pin E-1 from the captain's control column (Fig. 501).

 WARNING:_______MAKE SURE THE NOSE LANDING GEAR IS POINTED FORWARD. IF THE TIRES ARE NOT PARALLEL WITH THE AIRPLANE, THEY CAN TURN QUICKLY WHEN YOU REMOVE THE TOW PIN. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.

Remove the TOW PIN from the nose landing gear.

 3.  Rudder Ratio Changer Existing Faults Check__________________________________________
 A.  General
 (1)  
These are a test of the BITE functions of the rudder ratio changer. Use one of the two subsequent procedures to do a check for existing faults in the rudder ratio changer system.

 (2)  
The ADC-L Ground Test will be started automatically during this test to supply air speed data to the rudder ratio changers.

 (3)  
The tests make sure that the left or the right stabilizer trim rudder ratio modules (SRMs) can control the upper or the lower rudder changer system.

 (4)  
During the test, the rudder ratio changer actuators will move from the fully retracted to the fully extended position.

 (1)  
Supply electrical power (AMM 24-22-00/201).

 (2)  
Make sure the Air Data Switch on the Captain's SOURCE SELECT module is in the L position.

 WARNING: MAKE SURE THE FLAP LEVER AND THE TRAILING EDGE (TE) FLAPS ARE
_______ 20 OR LESS. IF THE TE FLAPS ARE EXTENDED TO MORE THAN 20, THEY CAN MOVE AUTOMATICALLY DURING THE TEST AND CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.

Make sure that the trailing edge (TE) flap lever is set to a position of 20 or less.
