 4)  Connect the input rod to the output crank of the feel, centering, and trim mechanism with the bolt, washer, and nut.
 (e)  Small adjustment:
 1) Loosen the clamp bolt on the input rod.

 NOTE: This is at the feel, centering, and trim mechanism

 2)  Turn the knurled adjuster nut.
 NOTE: One full turn of the knurled adjuster nut is
____ equivalent to 0.5 inches of travel at the rudder trailing edge.
 CAUTION:_______MAKE SURE THE ROD ENDS ARE ENGAGED CORRECTLY. IF THE ROD ENDS ARE NOT ENGAGED CORRECTLY, THE ROD CAN BREAK.
 (f)  
Make sure you can see the threads of the rod end through the inspection holes and that no more than 10 threads are visible adjacent to the checknut.

 (g)  
Tighten the clamp bolt on the input rod to 80-110 pound-inches.

 (h)  
If procedure 1 was used to extend the rudder ratio changer actuator, push the LSK that is adjacent to END TEST> on the CDU.

 (i)  
If procedure 2 was used to extend the rudder ratio changer actuator, slowly release the pressure from the pitot-static system (AMM 34-11-00/201).

 Do these steps to make sure the upper rudder moves to the center position correctly.

 (a)  
Make sure rig pin R-4 is installed in the feel, centering, and trim mechanism (Fig. 502).

 (b) Make sure the lower rudder is in its center position (refer to the steps above).
 WARNING:_______ MAKE SURE THAT PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF ALL
 CONTROL SURFACES BEFORE YOU SUPPLY HYDRAULIC POWER.  THE
 AILERONS, RUDDERS, ELEVATORS, FLAPS, SPOILERS, LANDING
 GEAR, AND THRUST REVERSERS CAN MOVE QUICKLY WHEN YOU
 SUPPLY HYDRAULIC POWER.  THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS

 AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
 (c)  
Supply hydraulic power (AMM 29-11-00/201).

 (d)  
Find the switches for the FLT CONTROL HYD POWER on the Pilot's Overhead Maintenance Panel, P461. 1) Put the TAIL switches 1 and 3 in the NORM position.

 (e)  
Make sure the trailing edge of the upper rudder is aligned with the lower rudder. If the trailing edge of the upper rudder is not aligned by more than 0.20 inch with the lower rudder, adjust the power control package for the upper rudder (AMM 27-21-15/501).

 Do these steps to adjust the aft quadrant stops.

 (a)  
Make sure the servo units for the two rudder ratio changers are fully retracted.


 NOTE: The servo units are 5.202-5.212 inches long (center to
____ center distance between the mounting points) when they are fully retracted.
 (b)  
Loosen the locknuts on the adjustment bolts for the adjustable stops (Fig. 504).

 (c)  
Push the captain's left rudder pedal fully forward. 1) Turn the adjustment bolt for the upper adjustable stop until it is fully retracted.


 2)  Turn the adjustment bolt (to make it longer) until the upper or the lower rudder moves.
 NOTE: Monitor the rudders carefully to know when one
____
 starts to move.

 3) Turn the bolt 30-60 degrees to make it shorter.
 (d)  Push the captain's right rudder pedal fully forward. 1) Turn the adjustment bolt for the lower adjustable stop until it is fully retracted.
 2)  Turn the adjustment bolt (to make it longer) until the upper or the lower rudder moves.
